Britt Baker has been a hot topic in recent months, mainly due to backstage issues in AEW while she continues to stay off television. While there’s no indication she will return to AEW, Jonathan Coachman has now claimed that Baker is getting close to leaving AEW and possibly signing with WWE.

While speaking on Behind the Turnbuckle, Jonathan Coachman claimed that he had another major scoop, suggesting that a top female name is very close to signing with WWE and asked his co-hosts to guess.

“Alright, so I just got this in real time. You guys know, I’ve just been breaking news left and right, and when it’s in context, I have yet to be wrong. So, I just found out there’s a name—a female name—out there that is this close to signing with WWE. Any guesses?”

One of the co-hosts Tommy Carlucci asked if it was Britt Baker, saying, “The one from AEW, Britt Baker?” Jonathan Coachman then confirmed the guess, saying Britt Baker is basically done with AEW and almost ready to join WWE and he bragged about his sources, saying, “Ding ding ding ding. Gone from AEW—close. My sources keep coming to your boy!”

Coachman also said Britt Baker is more than ready to make the move. She already has a story that WWE could use right away. He believes she was buried in AEW because she spoke up about things happening backstage. He explained that in wrestling, you just can’t speak up about things like that.

“She is ready—she’s so ready. She’s got the built-in storyline, and she got buried because she pushed back. She spoke up about what was going on, and in wrestling, you know you can’t do that.”

However, it is to be noted that Britt Baker signed a five-year deal with AEW back in the Fall of 2021, and so the former AEW Women’s Champion is still expected to be under contract until the Fall of 2026.

Therefore, it’s not a guarantee that Britt Baker is actually leaving AEW unless something happened in the months during her absence. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see if there’s any truth to what Coachman said, as it’s a known fact that WWE would actually sign Baker in a heartbeat if she were available.
