Brian Cage has been out of action for a few months now due to a torn quad and other injuries. Before he got injured, reports claimed the Murder Machines were going to challenge for the AEW Tag Team Titles at Dynasty but now Cage has shut down these reports.
A fan took to Twitter and noted that Tony Khan had been building up teams like Murder Machines, Hounds of Hell, and Aussie Open. However, Buddy Matthews, Brian Cage, and Mark Davis all ended up getting injured within about a month of each other, which disrupted plans. The fan also mentioned that according to Dave Meltzer, the Murder Machines were originally set to be the opponents for the Hurt Syndicate at Dynasty.
“Tony was building up Murder Machines, Hounds of Hell, and Aussie Open. But, Buddy Matthews, Brian Cage, and Mark Davis all got injured within like a month of each other. I’m pretty sure Meltzer said Murder Machines were going to be the original opponents for Dynasty.”
Brian Cage saw what the fan had to say and wasted no time in shooting down Dave Meltzer’s report, as he stated that he and Lance Archer were never considered to be the original opponents for the Hurt Syndicate at AEW Dynasty, saying, “We weren’t and never were.”
This comes after Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Brian Cage was expected to team with Lance Archer against The Hurt Syndicate at AEW Dynasty, but the match lineup changed, with Big Bill and Brian Keith replacing them.
“Archer, and Brian Cage were, I believe, slotted for this pay-per-view against the Hurt Business. And now, all of a sudden, it’s like out of nowhere. It’s Big Bill and Brian Keith.”
As for Brian Cage, he also recently underwent knee replacement surgery after his quad surgery, so it will be quite a while until he comes back. Regardless, fans are just waiting for him to return and dominate the tag team division again, as The Machine is definitely a good hand in AEW.
