Brian Cage isn’t just recovering from double knee surgery—he’s also stepping into Hollywood in a massive way.
The AEW star revealed that he’s landed a role in an upcoming Steven Spielberg project, and the way it all unfolded sounds like something straight out of a movie itself.
During a recent interview with The Magic of Wrestling, Cage explained that Chavo Guerrero initially reached out to him about a wrestling-themed TV project. While that show didn’t move forward, Chavo mentioned a film that might be a better fit.
“Chavo hit me up… about doing a TV show and it looked like it was about to be greenlit and then it got postponed. Then he goes, ‘Hey, actually, there’s this movie that might be cool. They’re interested. Here, I’m gonna give this guy your contact info.’”
Cage sent his materials over, but weeks passed without a response. Then, out of nowhere, the casting team came knocking—and they were already all in.
“I get an email: ‘Hey, I just sat down and watched all your stuff with the director. He absolutely loves you. He thinks you’re perfect. He knows everything about you—your look, your charisma, your personality. He wants to offer you the role.’”
Still not knowing who the director was, Cage made a follow-up call—and nearly dropped the phone.
“So I call the guy… and he goes, ‘Stephen said this, Stephen said that.’ And I go, ‘Stephen?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, the director. It’s Steven Spielberg.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, oh sht.’”*
The real shocker for Cage wasn’t just landing a part—but learning that Spielberg personally watched his wrestling footage and handpicked him for the role.
“Even cooler than being in a Spielberg film was the fact that he watched my stuff and said, ‘This is the guy I want.’ That’s a flex on its own.”
Cage was then asked who he’d want to work with on the movie. Without hesitation, he suggested his AEW tag partner, Lance Archer.
“They asked, ‘Is there someone you’d want to work with?’ I said, ‘Lance is a good friend of mine, he’s my partner in AEW.’ And they said, ‘Cool. Give us a few more names too.’ But they ended up picking Lance.”
The duo reportedly filmed scenes together before Cage’s injury. The film is tentatively slated for a June 2026 release, though the date isn’t locked in.
“We got to film together before I got hurt. As of now, it’s slated for a June 2026 release. I don’t know if that’ll stick, but that was the timeline.”
Reflecting on the experience, Cage admitted it was one of the most surreal moments of his life—and hinted this might just be the start of something big.
