Bret Hart hasn’t forgotten—and definitely hasn’t forgiven—what Bill Goldberg’s infamous kick cost him.

Speaking to Inside the Ropes, the WWE Hall of Famer vented his frustration over how Goldberg moved on from the incident, scored multi-million dollar Saudi Arabia paydays, and never once considered compensating him for the injury that ended his wrestling career. Hart didn’t mince words when addressing Goldberg’s post-injury success, particularly the high-profile matches that netted him millions with minimal effort.

“When I hear about Bill Goldberg going to Saudi Arabia, making $3 million for a 10-minute match… you think he would have called me up and said, ‘Here, I’m going to send you something for it.’”

For Bret, it wasn’t just about the money. It was the complete lack of acknowledgment. Goldberg’s only apology came eight months after the injury—and by then, it meant nothing.

“He never once called me after it happened… I don’t think he ever understood, or I don’t know that he even does now or even cares—that he cost me, honestly, cost me $16 million in like two seconds and ended my career.”

Hart pointed out that stars like Bryan Danielson turned down Saudi deals on principle. And while Bret admits he might not have been able to walk away from a $3 million offer himself, the sting comes from being completely ignored while Goldberg raked in massive checks.

This wasn’t just a career-ending injury—it was a financial and emotional blow that still lingers today. Goldberg may have walked away with millions, but according to Bret Hart, he never offered a cent—or a second thought—to the man whose career he ended.
