Just days after WWE shattered revenue records at WrestleMania 41, another round of behind-the-scenes cuts has hit the company—and this time, a major name is gone.
According to Fightful Select, Braun Strowman has been released from WWE as part of the ongoing wave of terminations.
The news comes shortly after the firing of Senior Vice President of Creative Writing Operations Christine Lubrano, who was reportedly let go due to cost-cutting and job redundancy. Now, it appears WWE is not done trimming, and this round has finally reached in-ring talent.
Strowman, real name Adam Scherr, is no stranger to WWE cuts. He was released once before in June 2021, only to return in 2022 as Triple H began reshaping the roster. Best known for his monster persona and powerhouse performances, Strowman once headlined major pay-per-views, won the Universal Championship, and memorably flipped vehicles during his peak run. He was also part of the memorable WrestleMania 36 match against Goldberg during the pandemic era, where he walked out as champion.
This round of cuts is still “ongoing,” which could mean more names are on the chopping block. WWE hasn’t released an official list or comment, keeping consistent with their recent strategy of letting contracts expire or cutting quietly under the TKO Group’s cost-efficiency model.
Strowman’s departure is a shock to fans who were still holding out hope for his return to the ring. With WrestleMania 41 delivering record-setting numbers, it’s a reminder that even success doesn’t stop WWE from clearing the payroll.
