WWE Hall of Famer Booker T isn’t holding back about one of the wildest moments from his early WWE career—a moment that nearly got him in serious trouble with the company.
On a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker revealed that he once punched a teenage fan so hard the kid flew “four rows” after spitting on him at a house show. Booker set the scene by explaining the moment unfolded after a match as he walked to the back. That’s when a fan crossed the line.
“This kid—I don’t know how old he was—but he ran up to the rail and he spit on me and it was like a lugie and it just got me good, man.”
The future WWE legend didn’t hesitate to respond.
“I ran so hard and I hit that kid. He went about four rows. I was just freaking enraged.”
Booker thought the incident was over—until WWE caught him red-handed. He recalled being called into the production truck on Monday.
“They go, ‘Booker, did you have an incident this weekend?’ I go, ‘Not really, you know, nothing really happened.’ And they pulled it up and it was about 10 cameras, 10 TVs. I mean, and they played it and they showed me run up and I hit that kid. Boom. And I couldn’t say anything. I was totally busted.”
When co-host Brad Gilmore asked for more details about how old the kid was, Booker admitted he didn’t know at the time, but he found out later.
“He was like maybe 16 or 17… but I didn’t know how old he was. I just knew it was a person. And then I realized after, it was a younger kid… Oh, I punched him. I whacked him. I literally—I had a running start and I bang, and he went flying.”
The whole incident ended up costing WWE, too.
“I think they had to pay that kid off and, you know, give him tickets, lifetime tickets or something like that out of this situation.”
Booker T said the confrontation was part of a crazy first year in WWE that also included him accidentally injuring Steve Austin, tearing a security guard’s ACL, and refusing to shave his head for a WrestleMania match.
