Bobby Lashley might be sidelined from in-ring action, but he’s still making appearances—and now, one boxing promotion is catching heat for completely ignoring his current wrestling affiliation.
On January 24, 2026, Dirty Championship Boxing announced on Twitter that Lashley will be appearing at their DBX 5! event on January 30 at the Bayou Music Center in Houston. However, fans were quick to notice two glaring issues with the post.
"WWE Legend & Former MMA Heavyweight @BobbyLashleyWWE will be at DBX 5! 👊 Next Friday, it all goes down in the Lone Star State with a STACKED card from top to bottom. 📍 Bayou Music Center, Houston, TX 📅 Friday, January 30th 📺 Watch LIVE & FREE on YouTube (comment YOUTUBE for channel) 🎟️ Get your tickets now! Comment the word TIX & we’ll DM you a link. (Don’t forget to add on the Jon Jones meet & greet!)"
First, the announcement only acknowledged Lashley’s time in WWE and MMA, completely snubbing any reference to his current run in AEW. Despite the fact that Lashley signed with AEW in 2024, DCB made no mention of it, treating him like he’s still with WWE. Even worse? They tagged the wrong social media handle, using @BobbyLashleyWWE instead of Lashley’s actual account, @fightbobby.
The post quickly drew attention from fans, pointing out the snub. Some accused the promotion of being outdated, while others speculated whether the snub was intentional, especially considering the often tense perception between crossover promotions and wrestling companies.
This comes as Lashley’s status in AEW remains uncertain. On January 17, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported during a Q&A that Lashley was expected to return quickly from an undisclosed injury, but his absence has lasted longer than originally anticipated. The new expectation is that Lashley could be out for “a few months,” though no official medical update or return date has been shared.
As it stands, Lashley remains off AEW television, but he’s clearly still making moves outside the ring—even if some promotions haven’t gotten the memo about where he works.
