The December 9 episode of NXT was quite an episode, and it included a lot of fallout after Deadline. That being said, it also gave another champion to step into the spotlight.

Blake Monroe has been turning heads since she was Mariah May. Now that she’s NXT Women’s North American Champion, she’s going at full force.

Since she wants to be a fighting champion, Blake Monroe showed up on NXT this week with an open challenge. That included an opponent that we didn’t see coming.

The open match closed out the first hour of NXT this week. When the time finally came, Blake Monroe cut a short promo before a ton of Superstars made their way out. Blake Monroe couldn’t contain the onslaught of challengers.

Suddenly, Thea Hale jumped in the ring and latched on a Kimora Lock, but the match never got started. Blake Monroe tapped out, and then she rolled out of the ring. She was surrounded by her challengers once again.

The segment ended with Blake Monroe never defending her title. Instead, she met a lot more than she expected.
