Blake Monroe just gave fans a close-up look at the aftermath of that chaotic NXT Women’s North American Title match — and the damage is right there on her ribs.

Monroe took to Twitter and uploaded a photo, showing KT tape wrapped around the right side of her torso, days after dropping the NXT Women’s North American Championship to Thea Hail in a finish that was never supposed to happen. The tape suggests bruised ribs, likely from Hail’s senton during the December 16 match — the very move that led to the botched finish.

PWInsider noted that Hail, still early in her career, didn’t realize Monroe needed time to recover. She went straight into the cover, and the referee — following WWE’s rule to call it like it’s real — counted the fall.

“Since referees are instructed to call pinfalls as if they are legitimate, the referee had no choice but to count the three count.”

The confusion spilled over to production. WWE initially played Monroe’s music, thinking she retained the title, only to abruptly switch to Hail’s theme once the reality of the botched finish hit backstage.

Now, WWE may be scrambling to course-correct. According to Fightful Select, officials are already discussing a rematch between Monroe and Hail — and NXT New Year’s Evil looks like the likely landing spot.

“We’re told that a rematch is already being discussed internally. Many we’ve spoken to expect it for NXT New Year’s Evil, but that hasn’t been confirmed.”

Monroe hasn’t made a direct statement about the injury, but her taped-up right side says enough. Whether she gets her revenge at New Year’s Evil or not, she’s clearly still feeling the effects of one painful miscommunication in the ring.

Should WWE stick with Thea Hail as the NXT Women’s North American Champion? Or does Blake Monroe deserve her title back? Let us know in the comments — what would you do if you were calling the shots?
