Blake Monroe isn’t letting a botched finish stop her from reminding fans she was the NXT Women’s North American Champion.
The former NXT Women’s North American Champion took to her Instagram and uploaded a pair of throwback photos of herself in a white bikini. Monroe is seen sitting on a swing in a white bikini surrounded by greenery while she was still the champion, showing off calm vibes, but her caption told a different story as she included a heartbreak emoji, “💔”
The single heartbreak emoji was enough to tell fans how she’s really feeling about the title loss, which came after a miscommunication during the December 16 match with Hail.
As reported earlier, the ending wasn’t supposed to go down that way. Hail landed a senton that likely bruised Monroe’s ribs, then immediately went for the pin. Still early in her career, Hail didn’t realize Monroe needed time to recover. The referee, following WWE’s “call it like it’s real” rule, counted the fall anyway.
“Since referees are instructed to call pinfalls as if they are legitimate, the referee had no choice but to count the three count.”
Earlier this week, Blake Monroe also shared a photo on Twitter showing KT tape wrapped around her ribs—seemingly confirming the injury during the match.
Now, WWE may be scrambling to course-correct. According to Fightful Select, officials are already discussing a rematch between Monroe and Hail — and NXT New Year’s Evil looks like the likely landing spot.
“We’re told that a rematch is already being discussed internally. Many we’ve spoken to expect it for NXT New Year’s Evil, but that hasn’t been confirmed.”
Whether she’s back in the title picture or not, Monroe’s latest set of photos says it all: she hasn’t moved on from the loss—and she’s not ready to let fans forget it either.
Should WWE run it back at New Year’s Evil? And do you think Blake Monroe deserves a proper rematch? Sound off in the comments.
