Billy Gunn had a big moment at Wembley Stadium in 2023, capturing the AEW Trios Championships alongside The Acclaimed at AEW All In. But things could’ve gotten even more outrageous — had one nostalgic plan gone through.

According to sources close to the situation via Fightful Select, Gunn had quietly been “planting the idea” of using his legendary WWE theme “Ass Man” for the event. The track, a fan-favorite from his WWE days, was never officially pitched to WWE — but Gunn was reportedly interested in making it happen.

The plan didn’t get very far, though, because Tony Khan wasn’t into the idea of licensing WWE-owned music for the event. Despite Gunn still having a merchandise deal with WWE, we’re told that “WWE was never approached about the possibility.”

One floated idea was to make Gunn’s entrance with the “Ass Man” theme part of a dramatic return at All In, following the tease of a split between him, Max Caster, and Anthony Bowens. It would have been a full-circle moment with the iconic track blasting through Wembley — but it wasn’t meant to be.

In the end, fans got a title win — but not the throwback theme song some were hoping for. Still, the idea alone proves just how deep wrestling nostalgia runs.
