Big E is at peace with where life has taken him since his devastating neck injury in 2022 — and he’s come to terms with the fact that his in-ring wrestling career may be over for good.

The former WWE Champion appeared on What’s Your Story with Stephanie McMahon, where he admitted he was surprised to even be invited on the show. Big E said that while he’s proud of everything he accomplished in wrestling, he now views that chapter of his life as being behind him.

“For all the people you’ve had on, I’m like, ‘why me?’ My career is kind of behind me. I’m someone who is appreciative, I think I had a really good career and I’m proud of it, but you’ve had John Cena, Livvy Dunne, some of the biggest names.”

Big E suffered a fractured C1 and C6 vertebrae on the March 11, 2022 episode of SmackDown after landing on his head from a suplex by Ridge Holland. While the injury ended his in-ring career, he has said he lives pain-free and remains active with WWE through his work on pre-show and post-show panels.

Stephanie McMahon explained that she wanted Big E on the show not because of championships or main events, but because of who he is as a person and the positive energy he brings to others. Much of their conversation focused on mental health, with Big E sharing how he’s grown emotionally since stepping away from the ring.

Even though he’s no longer competing, Big E’s story is one of acceptance, strength, and gratitude. Rather than focusing on what he lost, he’s chosen to celebrate what he accomplished — and the peace that comes with moving forward.
