There’s trouble in The New Day, and Big E just called it out loud and clear. On the anniversary of WrestleMania 35—a night when Kofi Kingston made history by winning the WWE Championship—Kingston shared a throwback photo to celebrate the moment. But fans quickly noticed something was missing: Big E.
The original photo from 2019 featured Kofi celebrating in the ring with both Big E and Xavier Woods by his side. But the version Kofi posted this year? It was edited to only include himself and Woods, cutting Big E completely out of the shot.
Now Big E has responded, and he’s not pretending everything’s fine. Speaking on RAW Recap with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant, the former WWE Champion addressed the photo edit—and the message behind it.
“Look, I know it’s been their duty to try to erase me from their history, and that again is their God-given right to do as they choose. But people know I was there. There is no New Day without me.”
Big E didn’t hold back as he broke down what he sees as a drop-off in The New Day’s success since his absence. “If you look at the trajectory of The New Day since I’ve been gone, let’s count the number of titles— a little lacking. Let’s count the number of main events— also been a little lacking.”
He acknowledged KofiMania as a powerful moment but reminded everyone that he played a key role in getting it there. “When we talk about the rise of KofiMania and that Gauntlet tag match we had where The Usos come out and forfeit, if you try to erase me, tell me how that happened. Was it a Woods handicap match now?”
Big E made it clear he’s proud of what he accomplished during his run with The New Day, and he isn’t letting anyone rewrite the history he helped build. “I know my place in history, I’m very comfortable with what I’ve done in my career and all the rest is just discourse.”
While Kofi and Woods remain active on WWE programming, this latest move—and Big E’s comments—make it clear that not everything is sunshine and pancakes between the former brothers in arms.
