Becky Lynch recently dropped a heavy backstage story that instantly set the wrestling world ablaze—but one name fans jumped to might be completely wrong.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer says Vince McMahon is not the man Lynch was referring to. Lynch appeared on Something’s Burning alongside Seth Rollins, where she opened up about an unsettling warning she received during her early WWE career. She revealed that women were told to avoid certain male wrestlers backstage, especially one main roster talent who allegedly used his status to manipulate and blacklist women—whether they slept with him or not.

“At the time it was also, ‘Stay away from the boys. Don’t go near the boys. No, stay away from the boys.’ But it was certain things like — I’m not going to name names, but there was a guy on the main roster who was like, ‘Be careful. Be careful, because if — one, he’ll try to sleep with you. If he sleeps with you, then he’ll blacklist you. And if he tries to sleep with you and you don’t sleep with him, he’ll also blacklist you.’”

The moment she added “you know him definitely,” fans immediately began speculating—and many pointed fingers at Vince McMahon. But Meltzer quickly shot that down on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“She said ‘main roster performer.’ Vince McMahon is not who she’s talking about… Vince was hardly ever on TV when Becky got to the main roster. So no, it’s not Vince.”

Meltzer was critical of the fallout, noting how Lynch’s refusal to name the person allowed wild speculation to take over:

“She said, ‘I will never say who it is,’ but by telling that story, she’s essentially allowed speculation to run wild. It’s really been unfair… people are being accused with zero information.”

He also emphasized that Vince, as an executive, wouldn’t fall under the “main roster performer” label Becky used. Instead, Meltzer believes the subject is a full-time in-ring talent who held sway during Becky’s initial run.

While Lynch never intended to expose a specific name, her honesty has opened the door to a storm of guessing games—and Meltzer’s clarification was a direct attempt to quiet the noise around one of the most controversial figures in wrestling history.

Do you think Becky Lynch should’ve named the wrestler to avoid the speculation? Or was her choice to stay silent the right call? Sound off in the comments below.
