Becky Lynch Reveals Embarrassing First Meeting with Chris Hemsworth

Becky Lynch has met all sorts of celebrities in her life, but some interactions have gone better than others. In fact, Lynch has now revealed she had a very embarrassing encounter with Chris Hemsworth.

While speaking on the “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast, Becky Lynch told an embarrassing story about meeting Chris Hemsworth before he became famous in America. She was working as a flight attendant and had an overnight stop in Chicago. Early the next morning, around 6 a.m., she went to the gym for a workout.

While she was there, a trainer started talking to her and then Chris Hemsworth walked by. Becky recognized him from the Australian TV show Home and Away, which also aired every night in Ireland.

Lynch was excited and pointed him out as “Kim from Home and Away,” but immediately felt embarrassed. She then made it worse by telling him that nobody in the U.S. knew who he was.

“There’s also one time I met Chris Hemsworth—so embarrassing. Okay, so this was before he was a big star in America.

I was a flight attendant, and I was on an overnight in Chicago. I was working out in this Crunch Fitness downtown, early in the morning, like 6 a.m. This personal trainer comes up, starts talking to me—I was in decent shape at the time, you know.

And then Chris Hemsworth walks by and I’m like, ‘You’re that guy from Home and Away.’ Because Home and Away was this big Australian show, but it was also on Irish TV every night at 6:30 on RTÉ2. I loved it—loved Home and Away.

So I said, ‘You’re Kim from Home and Away.’ And then instantly I thought, why did I say this? You idiot, why did you say that? Anyway, he was like, ‘Yeah, that’s me.’ And then I said, ‘Nobody knows who you are over here.’ Again, why did I say that? Why did I say that, you idiot?”

Hemsworth told her she was the first person to recognize him. Becky laughed later, saying he probably used that moment as motivation to work harder so people would know him. Looking back, she called herself an “idiot” for what she said.

“And he was like, ‘No, you’re the first one.’ And I bet every day after that, he was doing curls thinking, ‘They’re gonna know who I am now.’ Idiot. Absolute idiot.”

Chris Hemsworth would eventually become a huge name as one of Hollywood’s top stars, especially for his role as Thor in the Marvel movies. For Becky Lynch, that awkward encounter is pretty much a funny and humbling memory, showing just how quickly life can change for someone.
