The internet was already suspicious about Seth Rollins’ latest injury—now Becky Lynch has thrown more fuel on the fire.
Just shortly after reports claimed Rollins’ knee injury is part of a carefully planned WWE storyline, Lynch jumped on Instagram and posted a new video of her husband strolling down the sidewalk on crutches with their daughter Roux. The caption? “intercontinental summer.”
In the clip, Rollins is seen confidently moving with a large brace on his right knee, balancing effortlessly on crutches while walking beside his daughter. And while the moment looks like a wholesome family outing, many fans are convinced it’s all part of the ongoing work—especially after Dave Meltzer’s reveal that the “injury” was always part of the script.
“The reason they did everything—OK, again, this is interesting because the plan was always to do the injury to Seth Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event,” Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “You think he’s hurt badly, he’s gone, and then he surprises everyone, cashes in on the Gunther–Punk winner—which is probably Punk, right?”
The long con? Let CM Punk win the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam only for Rollins to cash in and steal it seconds later.
“So Punk gets the title and then loses it in seconds,” Meltzer added. “I figure that’s how it’s going down. I can’t imagine him not winding up with the championship and then telling everyone it was a ruse and he worked everybody.”
Even with fans decoding the playbook early, WWE reportedly isn’t pivoting. “Midweek, when I was writing the Observer, it was very much said to me that the plans haven’t changed,” Meltzer confirmed.
So if anyone thought Becky Lynch’s sidewalk stroll post was just a casual summer moment—they might want to think again. Every post counts when you’re playing the long game, and in WWE, nothing ever just “happens.”
