Becky Lynch made her shocking return at WrestleMania 41, which was her first appearance since May 2024. Fans wondered why her return took so long, and now Lynch has revealed the actual reason why.

While speaking to Variety, Becky Lynch revealed that she initially planned to take a three-month break during the summer of 2024 when her contract was up. She thought it would be a good time to relax and get some things done. However, her plans changed when she started filming for Star Trek and Happy Gilmore.

Lynch then revealed that there were discussions about her returning at the Royal Rumble, but at the last minute, she developed a skin condition and so she couldn’t come back.

With WrestleMania 41 being the next major event, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to come back, especially since she could take Bayley out of the equation and spoil her dreams, which made it even more satisfying.

“I took what I thought was going to be three months off during the summer, when my contract came up,” Lynch says of her absence. “I was like, ‘Okay, seems like a good time to take a little break, get some stuff done.’ Then other things came up – I was filming ‘Star Trek,’ and then ‘Happy Gilmore.’ There was talk [of a return] around Rumble time, but then at the last minute, I got a skin condition. The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed to make sense, especially if I could take Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant.”

Regardless, the Man is now fully focused on her match against Lyra Valkyria at Backlash, where she will challenge Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Therefore, we’ll have to see if she will end up winning the match and becoming the new champion, as it would be the cherry on top after her return.
