Becky Lynch has now revealed that her character in Happy Gilmore 2 was pretty much her own creation.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Becky Lynch explained that while the filmmakers gave her a general idea of her character, she had a lot of creative freedom to make Flex her own. Becky Lynch even said there might be “a little bit of Big Time Becks” in how she played the character in the movie.

“Had a good amount of freedom to kind of make it my own. There was obviously the character description, but beyond that, it was kind of up to each of us to design our own character exactly as we [workshopped] it.

“Maybe a little bit of Big Time [in there]. Maybe a little bit of Big Time.”

Happy Gilmore 2’s fun, lighthearted energy is what drew Becky Lynch to the project. She believes that in tough times, everyone could use a laugh or a good distraction and movies, TV, and even wrestling can give people that much-needed break.

“We all need a little bit of a laugh. We all need a little bit of an escape right now, you know? And if movies, if TV, Hell, if pro wrestling can offer that escape for an hour and a half, two hours, three hours, whatever it is, half an hour. They do say laughter is the best medicine.”

Happy Gilmore 2 released on Netflix this week and people have been singing its praises non-stop. Considering how well-received her role was in the movie, we’ll have to see if Becky Lynch will end up working with Adam Sandler again in the future.
