Becky Lynch isn’t backing down after her controversial WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship defense on RAW ended in disqualification—and left fans furious.

Less than 24 hours after smashing Maxxine Dupri in the head with her title to retain the belt, Lynch took to Instagram with a busted lip and a message for the WWE Universe. In the video, Becky addressed what she called unfair criticism of her actions, insisting that she was the real victim in the match. She said the situation was being twisted online and claimed the referee missed a major infraction.

“Hello. I thought it was very important that I address the nation of the WWE Universe. Last night, there’s been some chatter about my conduct—as if I acted in an unsportsmanly like manner. Which I can tell you is absolutely untrue in the match. Clear as day everybody saw it. Maxxine closed fist. Punch to my face. An illegal maneuver. Jessica Carr should have disqualified her.”

Becky didn’t stop there. She alleged that Dupri used an “illegal object” in the match—specifically her nails—and claimed she had experts back her up on that point.

“What’s more? An illegal maneuver with an illegal object. I verified this through experts, through nail technicians. They have verified that the nails that Maxxine Dupri was wearing would cause intense damage to the lip.”

Lynch went on to say that after being struck, she tried to stay calm and walk away before things escalated.

“Something that I said, okay, that’s it. You know what? I’ve had enough. I’m not gonna stoop to any—I’m not gonna stoop to a level that is not my highest self. So I took myself out of there. I took a walk. And I said, okay, that’s enough. I’m not gonna stoop any lower. And she wouldn’t have it. She wouldn’t let me go.”

Lynch’s explanation follows widespread criticism for her actions on the October 20 episode of RAW, where she intentionally got herself disqualified by hitting Dupri with the championship belt. The Sacramento crowd showered her with boos as she left the ring, clutching her title while Dupri was left motionless.

With this new statement, Becky is clearly trying to reframe the story—portraying herself as a wronged champion defending her integrity. Whether fans buy her version or not remains to be seen.
