AJ Lee successfully defended the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the March 16, 2026 episode of WWE Raw, but the celebration didn’t last long.

The show from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio featured a major title clash between AJ Lee and Bayley. The bout carried historic significance as it marked AJ Lee’s first match on Raw since 2015, and both competitors delivered a hard-fought battle that closed out the first hour of the show.

The match included several close calls as both women pushed each other to the limit. Bayley nearly secured the win after countering the Black Widow submission, and she later attempted her signature elbow drop from the top rope. However, AJ Lee avoided the move and eventually locked in the Black Widow once again, forcing Bayley to tap out to retain the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

After the match, the moment turned respectful. AJ Lee offered her hand to Bayley, and Bayley responded with a hug. AJ then raised Bayley’s hand before Bayley exited the ring, leaving the champion to celebrate with fans at ringside.

That celebration was cut short moments later. With AJ facing the crowd and her back turned toward the entrance, Becky Lynch suddenly rushed the ring and launched a surprise attack. Lynch immediately drove AJ into the LED board before dragging her to the floor and continuing the assault.

The attack continued at ringside as Becky kicked AJ in the back and slammed her into the barricade while officials attempted to regain control of the situation.

Eventually, Lynch was pulled away from the champion, but the message was already clear. Becky briefly held the Women’s Intercontinental Championship before returning it to AJ in a disrespectful fashion by tossing it directly into her face.

The brutal ambush now raises serious questions about Becky Lynch’s intentions and could signal the beginning of a new rivalry involving the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
