Becky Lynch worked hard to become the global sensation that she is today and she had to struggle a lot after moving from Ireland to the USA. Keeping her struggles in mind, Lynch has now revealed just how awful her car experience has been since arriving in the United States.

While speaking on the Are You Garbage podcast, Becky Lynch was asked what her first car was. She stated that when she first moved to the U.S., she said the used car system was a complete racket and she got ripped off everywhere.

Living in Orlando without knowing how things worked, she bought a cheap little car that broke down almost immediately after driving it off the lot. It smelled terrible, felt like a total death trap, maybe a Saturn or Suzuki, she couldn’t even remember but she absolutely hated it.

“Oh my god, when I came over here… the used car system here — what a racket. What a racket. Welcome to the USA. I just got ripped off left, right, and center. Didn’t know what I was doing, couldn’t get around living in Orlando. Bought this little banger of a thing. It broke down as soon as I got off the lot. Smelled gross, like it was a death trap. Like a Saturn? Suzuki? Maybe a Suzuki or something. Awful little piece of s***. Hated that car.”

Afterwards her friend Joey Cabray, another Irish person who was in NXT with her before he got fired, sold her his car. She was driving it to get a root canal when that one blew up on the highway, leaving her stranded.

“And then my friend — another Irish man, Joe Cra, legend of a lad, he was in NXT with me in WWE (that’s our developmental for people who don’t know) — he got fired, sold me his car. I was driving to get a root canal and that thing blew up. Just smoked on the highway. I didn’t know what to do. Total disaster.”

Then came a moment at a wrestling show where she spotted a security guy driving a Volkswagen Beetle, which had always been her dream car. The man offered to sell it to her for around eight grand, which was a good deal back in 2013 or 2014, but she couldn’t really afford it.

Even then, he let Becky Lynch pay in weekly installments because he still owed money on it himself. Unfortunately, he passed away before finishing his own payments, so the car got repossessed. That pretty much summed up her awful experience with cars.

“And then, oh man, I was at a show and there was a security guy driving a Volkswagen Beetle. I was like, ‘That’s my dream car.’ Yeah, that’s my dream car.’

And he goes, ‘I’ll sell it to you.’ It was a good deal, like eight grand, but I couldn’t afford it at the time. This was 2013 or 2014. But I bought it off him anyway. He was so nice, let me pay in weekly installments because he still owed money on it. Not a bad setup, weekly payments to own a Beetle. But then he died and he never paid it off… so they repossessed it. So yeah, that’s been my car experience.”

Becky Lynch’s journey in wrestling is inspiring, but her car problems make her story even more relatable. She’s dealt with shady used car sales, cars breaking down, and even having them repossessed and her being so relatable is why fans love her so much now.
