Bear Bronson parted ways with AEW recently after he confirmed AEW wouldn’t be renewing his contract. As it turns out, Bronson has now revealed that he actually laughed when AEW called him to let him know they weren’t going to renew his contract.
While speaking to Scott’s Scoop, Bear Bronson talked about his AEW exit and the phone call that confirmed it. He said he saw his AEW departure coming, and while he was driving to Wrestling Open, someone from the office called him. The person told him they were proud of what he was doing, but informed him that his contract was ending that week and wouldn’t be renewed.
“I did really see this coming, and uh, when the person from the office—I won’t name his name—had called me while I was driving to Wrestling Open, he’s like, ‘Hey, how you doing?’ I’m like, ‘Great.’ He’s like, ‘Hey, I just want to say I’m so proud of you for what you’re doing, but um, we just, you know, I wanted to let you know, your contract’s up this week and we’re not going to renew.'”
Bronson admitted that he immediately laughed, saying he had a feeling it was coming. They both shared a laugh, and the rest of the conversation stayed positive. He made it clear there were no hard feelings and wanted everyone to know that. He added that things happened the way they did and stated that AEW is a really big company.
“I had laughed on the other end of the phone and I was like, ‘Yeah, I figured,’ you know? And like, we shared a laugh. And then the rest of the phone call was very uplifting—it’s like, you know, all good vibes, man. And I had even said to them to make sure everyone knows it’s no hard feelings. Things happened the way they did, you know? But man, like, it’s a big company. It’s a really big company.”
Bear Bronson didn’t get much success in AEW. Bronson had not appeared on AEW or Ring of Honor shows since December 2024. His time away came after his tag team partner Bear Boulder, was arrested in January and later released by AEW in February.
While AEW may no longer be part of his path, Bear Bronson remains positive and honest about his journey, showing he’s not done yet. He’s already back on the independent wrestling scene, so fans will have to wait and see if he finds success there now.
