Bayley has been one of WWE’s most recognizable stars for years, but her entrance music almost started off on the wrong foot. While appearing during a WWE 2K26 gameplay session, the former multi-time champion opened up about how her theme music came together and admitted that her first reaction to it wasn’t exactly positive.

The conversation with IGN while discussing entrance themes in WWE and how much input performers actually have when it comes to the music that plays as they walk to the ring. Bayley explained that the amount of control wrestlers have can depend heavily on where they are in their careers, especially when they’re still finding their footing in WWE.

She recalled the moment WWE first sent her the music that would eventually define her early “Hugger” character run in NXT. Her immediate reaction wasn’t exactly enthusiastic, but the situation changed quickly when she learned who had already signed off on it.

“So it kind of depends, I guess, where you’re at in your career. Like my first one in NXT when I became the Hugger, they sent me like, ‘Hey, this is what we’re thinking for music.’ I hated it. And then the next text was Hunter loves it. And I said, ‘Alright, sounds good. Like that’s my song.’”

Even though she didn’t love the theme at first, Bayley admitted that her perspective shifted once she started seeing how fans reacted to it whenever it played in arenas.

“And then like grew to love it, you know? Like people just got really excited when it came on.”

Bayley also explained that things changed later in her career once she had more experience and influence in the company. When she turned heel, WWE initially planned for the new entrance music to only be temporary, but she ended up liking it enough to keep it.

“And then when I turned heel, it was the song that I ended up keeping that was — they were like, ‘Hey, this is just for tonight. We don’t have to keep it.’ But then I really liked it, you know? I like the little guitar solo in it, so we kept that.”

When Damage CTRL came together, Bayley said the process became more collaborative between herself, WWE’s music team, and Triple H as different ideas were brought to the table.

“When Damage Control came about, we kind of collabed on that. So it was a little bit of back and forth, you know? I feel like me and the music team and Hunter all have different visions and we hear different things.”

She also revealed that the entrance theme she currently uses wasn’t originally meant to stick around. The track was introduced for her WrestleMania match with Iyo Sky, and WWE initially planned to change it back afterward.

“The one I have now was also one of those things where it was like, ‘Hey, this was just for Mania when I wrestled Iyo.’ But we can get back to it. And then we just never got back to it. It’s not my favorite, but that’s also kind of my fault too. I need to be more on it and just say something.”

Bayley’s comments offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at how WWE entrance music actually comes together. While some themes become instantly iconic with fans, the performers themselves don’t always love them right away. In Bayley’s case, the reaction from the crowd eventually changed her mind and helped turn a theme she initially disliked into something she embraced.

What do you think about Bayley admitting she hated her original entrance music at first? Do you think WWE should give wrestlers more control over their themes, or should the company handle it creatively? Let us know what you think in the comments and join the conversation.
