Baron Corbin was let go by WWE back in November last year and while he hasn’t competed in another promotion yet, Corbin does keep up with the current trends in professional wrestling. He recently criticized AEW talent for seeking early releases and has now denied having any interest in working for AEW.

The former WWE Superstar made headlines after he called out AEW talent wanting to get their releases early in light of Rey Fenix’s current situation in AEW, as Tony Khan refuses to release Fenix despite public outcry.

Corbin stated that when a talent signs a contract, they should stick to it, and pointed out that if Tony Khan hadn’t paid Fenix while he was injured or not working, people would have criticized that too. Corbin added that a talent can’t just change teams after signing a contract.

“If you sign a contract you honor it,” Corbin wrote. “Would it have been okay if Tony didn’t pay him while he was hurt or out of action? The answer is no bc Tony signed the contract as well. You can’t switch teams after getting what you want and signing the contract.”

A fan then stated that adding injury time to Fenix’s contract and not having any plans to use him is only hurting Fenix himself, saying, “Adding injury time to his contract and having no plans to use him is not hurting anybody but Fenix.”

In response, Corbin said that everyone who gets injured gets injury time, whether it’s in WWE, AEW, or TNA. He added that it’s just part of the deal. Corbin also suggested that maybe Fenix doesn’t want to work, and that only he and Tony Khan know the truth.

“Everyone who gets hurt gets injury time. Doesn’t matter if it’s WWE AEW or TNA That’s part of it. And maybe fénix doesn’t want to work. Only him and Tony know that.”

A fan then told Corbin that his last comment made it seem like he was begging for a job in AEW, while Rey Fenix’s tweets have been clear about what he wants, saying, “The last part just shows you’re begging for a job when Reys tweets have been blatant about what he wants.”

Baron Corbin then responded to the fan, denying that he wants a job in AEW and making it clear he is cool, saying, “I don’t want a job but nice try. I’m cool trust me.”

In the meantime, Baron Corbin is set to compete against Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett in a Bloodsport rules match at The People vs. GCW on January 19, 2025. While Corbin has made it clear he wasn’t trying to land a job in AEW, only time will tell whether he will change his mind in the future.
