The song, from Sum 41’s Heaven x Hell album, marks a major tonal shift for AEW, opting for a harder, edgier vibe as they continue to redefine the show’s presentation. Earlier this year, AEW tested “I’m So Excited” by The Pointer Sisters for the January 1st episode, but it quickly fizzled out as the intro theme. Now, “You Wanted War” is here to stay — at least for now.

The reaction from fans has been mixed, with some embracing the aggressive sound while others are still adjusting to the change.
