Adam Copeland may be off AEW television after FTR’s vicious attack, but it appears his absence won’t last forever. AEW reportedly has plans for Copeland to make a return for AEW All In: Texas on July 12.
During a recent Q&A for Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp addressed Copeland’s status, stating, “I can’t say specifically when, because I don’t know, but he is planned for AEW All In for a significant match, so in plenty of time to help build for that.”
The confirmation comes after Copeland was stretchered out of the arena following a savage assault by FTR on the April 10 episode of AEW Dynamite. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler didn’t just turn on their former ally—they made sure he wouldn’t forget it. They hit Cope with a “shatter machine, a spike piledriver, and a con-chair-to”, leaving him motionless in the ring as the stunned crowd in Philadelphia watched on.
Commentator Tony Schiavone was disgusted by FTR’s actions, calling them “totally unnecessary and unforgivable.” Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Copeland is “not expected back until July,” making it clear that AEW All In will be his targeted comeback.
AEW All In: Texas will take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, marking the first-ever wrestling event held at the stadium. While Sapp didn’t specify Copeland’s exact role for the event, it’s clear that AEW has big plans for the WWE Hall of Famer’s return.
