Santos Escobar’s WWE contract came to an end at midnight on October 6. Instead of exploring other options, he ended up re-signing with WWE just two days later and now WWE’s reaction to Escobar re-signing has been revealed.

According to Fightful Select, before Santos Escobar re-signed with WWE, there were rumors that he might appear at New York Comic Con this weekend and that appearance was legitimately planned.

It was then noted that there were no serious talks between Escobar and AEW before he renewed his WWE contract. Sources say his new WWE deal is a strong one, described as being for “great money.”

“Before he re-signed with WWE, there were rumors that Santos Escobar could pop up at New York Comic Con this weekend, and have since confirmed he was planned for it. We’d not heard of any real serious talks between Santos Escobar and AEW as of him re-signing with WWE. We’re told his deal was for ‘great money.'”

Many people within WWE were pleasantly surprised to see Escobar return. Many people had assumed the “exploding offer” would also apply to Santos Escobar and that’s exactly what happened.

“A number of people we spoke to in WWE were surprised (pleasantly) that Santos Escobar is back in WWE. There were many that figured the “exploding offer” would extend to him as it did for others.”

While many in WWE are obviously happy that Santos Escobar will remain part of the company, his contract expiration did derail plans for him to win the AAA Mega Championship. Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for Escobar now that he’s back with WWE for good.
