Rhea Ripley’s match with Asuka on the September 22 episode of WWE Raw ended in pure chaos—but the real story was what happened backstage after the mist attack.
During the show, Ripley defeated Asuka after a surprise pinfall. But things took a wild turn when Asuka quickly retaliated, blinding Ripley with her signature mist before teaming with Kairi Sane to beat her down. IYO SKY ran in for the save, but was also left lying by the end of the show.
Now, Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has revealed what people backstage thought about Ripley being doused in mist—and it sounds like the locker room was as shocked as fans watching at home.
“Rhea Ripley got misted, and people backstage—one source rather—called it a comical amount of mist and didn’t expect for it to be that much. And Rhea was taking pictures with everybody. She actually left the venue in that, which is kind of funny as well. But good on her for being a good sport.”
The quote paints a very different picture than the dramatic scene on TV. Instead of storming out or demanding a towel, Ripley apparently embraced the chaos and left the building still covered in mist, even snapping photos with staff and talent along the way.
It’s a glimpse of the professionalism and humor Ripley brings behind the scenes—something fans rarely get to hear about.
