The September 26 episode of WWE SmackDown featured NXT star Je’Von Evans putting on the performance of a lifetime against Sami Zayn. Following the bout, the backstage reaction to his performance has been revealed.

According to a report by Fightful Select, it was noted that the young NXT star got a really good reception when he returned backstage following his match against Sami Zayn for the United States Title.

“Je’Von Evans got a warm reception upon returning backstage.”

The match had a ton of fast-paced, high-flying action that had the crowd on fire.
Fans even chanted “This is awesome!” when Sami Zayn hit Je’Von Evans with an exploder suplex. Zayn went for a Helluva Kick, but Evans blocked it.

Evans missed a dive, but quickly dodged another Helluva Kick and countered with an OG Cutter for a dramatic near fall that nearly ended the match. The crowd reached a fever pitch before Zayn finally connected with a Helluva Kick followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb to pick up the win and retain his title.

Je’Von Evans didn’t win a championship on SmackDown, but he gained a lot of respect not just from fans, but Sami Zayn as well. So it’s clear he will eventually get a solid run on the main roster once he gets the call-up and it’s just a matter of time before that happens.
