As noted earlier this week, Mauro Ranallo announced via Twitter that he will not at NXT Takeover: Chicago due to a scheduling conflict. Instead, he will be announcing the Showtime Boxing event.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that his boxing obligations come first and this is actually stated in his contract with WWE.

“Showtime has first dibs on Mauro,” said Meltzer. “So when there is boxing, he can’t do NXT.”

Basically, if boxing has an event the same day as NXT, Mauro will be picking the boxing show over the NXT show.
