EVIL’s WWE move looks closer than ever — but there’s already a disagreement over how it should start.

A new report on March 18, 2026 reveals that while EVIL is expected to join WWE once his NJPW deal expires, there’s a split between what he wants and what the company has in mind. According to Super J-Cast & Case Lowe, EVIL has reportedly requested to begin his WWE run in NXT so he can adjust to the company’s style before stepping onto a bigger stage.

EVIL is expected to join WWE, but he reportedly requested to start in NXT so that he can be familiar with WWE’s style. But WWE may not be on the same page. The report notes that the company is instead leaning toward bringing him straight to the main roster — skipping the developmental route entirely. However, the company want him on the main roster.

That difference in direction could shape how EVIL’s entire WWE run begins. Coming into WWE after a long run in NJPW, starting in NXT would give him time to adapt, build character familiarity, and connect with a new audience. On the other hand, jumping directly to RAW or SmackDown would signal immediate intent — but also comes with higher expectations right out of the gate.

With his NJPW exit already confirmed and the move to WWE widely expected, it now looks like the only question left is where he’ll land first. Either way, EVIL’s transition into WWE is already getting complicated before it even begins.

Do you think EVIL should start in NXT to adjust, or should WWE bring him straight to the main roster? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback.
