Penta’s long-awaited WWE debut finally happened on the January 13 episode of RAW, marking a major moment for the former AEW star.

According to Fightful Select the deal had been finalized weeks prior, following the expiration of his AEW contract on December 1.

Originally, Penta was slated to appear alongside Rey Mysterio in a tag team match against New Day, though that plan didn’t come to fruition. Meanwhile, WWE sources downplayed the early release of Penta’s merchandise on January 13, calling it a “happy accident,” but skepticism remains about whether it was truly unintentional.

Penta didn’t shy away from the spotlight backstage, mingling with talent and participating in photo shoots throughout the day. His presence was far from a secret, with many backstage acknowledging the importance of the moment for him and his family.

Reports of his segment running over time have been confirmed, with WWE initially listing the match for one segment to manage commercial breaks rather than in-ring time. The promo, however, exceeded expectations, sparking chatter about whether other segments were cut as a result.

Rumors of backstage heat on Penta quickly circulated, but a WWE higher-up who clarified that if there was any heat, it was likely directed at whoever decided on the hard out for the show. WWE has some flexibility with RAW’s runtime but was reportedly working to ensure talent could catch late flights out of town.

Among talent backstage, there was no indication of frustration with Penta. In fact, the roster seemed thrilled to welcome him into the fold and celebrated the significant milestone for his career.

Penta’s debut on WWE RAW wasn’t just another wrestling moment—it was a career-defining statement for the former AEW star. Whether the backstage rumors hold any weight or not, one thing is certain: Penta has officially arrived, and fans are eager to see what’s next for him in WWE.
