Austin Theory has officially confirmed he was the masked man all along, dating back to last year—and he’s shutting down every rumor that someone else was behind the attacks.

After months of theories surrounding the masked man who attacked CM Punk at Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 until Theory’s eventual reveal, Theory has now made it official—he was behind it the entire time.

Speaking to Adrian Hernandez on April 11, 2026, Theory directly addressed the mystery and shut down all the rumors about other WWE stars being involved, including Montez Ford: “Yes—every time it was me. It wasn’t all these other guys you think it was.”

He even acknowledged how wild the speculation got online, with fans trying to break down every detail to figure out who was under the mask: “Montez Ford or—yo, they were zooming in—It was great. It was my ass. Everybody was like, ‘Oh, that’s got to be Austin Theory.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, alright.’”

Theory didn’t stop at the reveal—he also gave a behind-the-scenes look at how WWE managed to keep the secret under wraps for so long, even within the locker room. He described going to extreme lengths to avoid being recognized, including being transported separately and keeping his identity hidden until the last possible moment.

“Man, I’d say there were—if I remember correctly—maybe three or four times leading up to the build of taking the mask off. We were still unsure when the mask was going to come off, but my travel was crazy. I was flying into the opposite city, staying at the hotel, then I’d have a chauffeur pick me up and take me to the arena.”

And once he got close to the venue, the disguise went on—sometimes leaving even the driver confused about what was happening. Even backstage, Theory said very few people knew what was going on, which helped WWE keep the storyline tightly controlled

“So right when I get close to the building, I put my black hoodie on, I put my shiesty on, I put my hood up—and the guy driving is just looking in the rearview like, ‘Am I about to get robbed? What’s happening?’ And then even at TV, man—I would sneak in the back. I’d pass certain talent—guys I’m close with—and we’d kind of make eye contact, but I wouldn’t say anything. Nobody really knew.”

That secrecy extended all the way to production, with only a handful of people involved in preparing him for the segments. He also revealed how minimal the disguise actually was, despite fooling so many viewers.

“And the reason it wasn’t so clear that it was me is because—shoot—even in the back, no one knew. There was a very small percentage of people that knew. And especially when it came time to do the segment, the makeup lady would come put eyeliner on me—it was just a black T-shirt tucked in and a zip-up black hoodie. I’m a jacked dude, you know what I mean?”

What started as one of WWE’s biggest recent mysteries has now been fully confirmed—and according to Theory, it worked exactly as planned, keeping both fans and much of the locker room guessing until the reveal.

So what do you think—did WWE pull this off perfectly, or should the masked attacker storyline have been revealed sooner? Drop your thoughts below.
