Austin Theory’s WWE future has just taken a confusing turn — and fans who were holding out hope for a payoff to his tag team with Grayson Waller may be out of luck.

After weeks of silence and no storyline closure, Theory has now been removed from WWE’s internal active roster, according to PWInsider. No official statement has been made, and there are currently no confirmed reasons behind the move. This development could suggest that WWE has no immediate creative plans for Theory, he may be sidelined for undisclosed reasons, or he could have even been quietly released from the company.

What makes the situation more frustrating is the complete lack of resolution for the “A-Town Down Under” tag team. Waller and Theory had teased tension on-screen for months, even prompting live audiences to chant “Turn on Grayson!” during segments. The angle had built fan interest, with many expecting either a dramatic split or a full babyface turn for Theory — something that actually felt earned for once.

Instead, nothing happened. The teases stopped, the team faded away, and Theory vanished from television altogether. While Waller has since been featured in segments with The New Day, Theory was last spotted wrestling on WWE Main Event in July, without any follow-up or acknowledgment on Raw or SmackDown.

Theory’s momentum seemed to be picking up for the first time in a long while. Fans who once booed him began cheering, ready to support a potential face run. WWE made the effort to get viewers emotionally invested — and then simply dropped the thread without explanation.

Now, with Theory quietly removed from the internal roster, it appears that WWE has opted to hit pause — or stop — on his run entirely.

Was Austin Theory’s story dropped too soon? Should WWE have at least given fans a proper send-off or feud to close the chapter? Let us know what you think in the comments.
