Fans hoping for Asuka to make a surprise return at WrestleMania 41 may want to dial back their expectations. While rumors have been swirling about her status, the latest update suggests it’s very unlikely she’ll be at the show.
Confusion broke out across multiple outlets today after Sean Ross Sapp was asked yet again about Asuka’s status on March 12. His response?
“I can’t speak to her health status or anything like that, but she had been pitched for creative heading into WrestleMania as far back as January. I’ve not heard anything since, but at the time, she’d been pitched for a tag team program.”
That’s the same answer he’s been giving for weeks, but the key takeaway here is that this information is outdated. The reality is that recent reports from BodySlam.net’s Cassidy Haynes indicate that Asuka isn’t expected to return for at least a couple more months, meaning a WrestleMania comeback is almost certainly off the table.
WWE is reportedly playing it safe with her recovery following knee surgery and doesn’t want to rush her back into action. She’s been out since April 2024, working through an injury before finally stepping away after Backlash France, where she and Kairi Sane lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.
For those holding out hope, there’s still no official confirmation that Asuka is 100% out of WrestleMania 41, but all signs point to her not being a part of the event.
With WrestleMania just weeks away, do you think WWE should have held off on creative plans for Asuka’s return, or is it best to wait until she’s fully ready? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
