Asuka is hailed as one of the best female in-ring competitors in WWE and she is incredibly proud of what she has managed to accomplish in the company. That’s precisely why it comes as no surprise she shut down a fan who insulted the match.

The Empress of Tomorrow took to Twitter and stated that her match with Mickie James at NXT TakeOver was a great match, saying, “This was a really great match.” Many fans agreed with what Asuka said as well.

However, a fan then took to Twitter and dismissed the match as generic WWE content. The fan argued that real great women’s wrestling happens in Japan and suggested that if the match had taken place in Stardom, it would have been better. He also included the cagematch rating for the bout, which was 6.93 overall.

Nope. It was boilerplate hardcam WWE slop. Real great women’s wrestling is in Japan. Maybe if you worked this match in Stardom it could have been something special.”

Asuka fired back, questioning why anyone would let worthless, garbage reviews influence their choices. She compared it to relying on reviews for games or cars, saying opinions mean nothing. She added that there’s nothing more pathetic than giving up your own judgment to someone else’s opinion, encouraging people to think for themselves.

“Do you really let worthless, garbage reviews dictate your choices? Be it games or cars, reviews mean nothing. There’s nothing more pathetic than surrendering your own judgment to someone else’s opinion 😂 Take full control of your own thoughts.”

Asuka continued by saying that if she wrestled just to satisfy reviews, every match would feel like industrial waste. She argued that fans don’t actually want mass-produced, identical matches.

Instead, she wants to embrace a bad match for the chaos it brings and fully appreciate a great match as the masterpiece it deserves to be. In the end, she stated that love is what truly matters.

“If I wrestled just to please the reviews, every match would end up feeling like industrial waste. I don’t think people really want mass-produced, uniform matches. I want to enjoy a terrible match for the mess that it is, and when a match is truly great, I want to experience it as the masterpiece it deserves to be. Either way, love is what matters.”

What Asuka said simply reminds fans that wrestling, like any entertainment, is a matter of personal taste. Reviews and ratings can help, but they shouldn’t decide what you enjoy. Whether a match is seen as a classic or a mess, the most important thing is the passion and love for wrestling.

Do you agree with Asuka’s take on wrestling and fan opinions? Should matches be judged by ratings, or is personal enjoyment more important? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
