Ash By Elegance delivered heartbreaking news at TNA Victory Road last Friday, announcing that she’s stepping away from in-ring competition and relinquishing the Knockouts Championship. Her emotional promo left fans stunned, and speculation immediately followed—but TNA’s Tommy Dreamer wants everyone to know this is very real.
During Busted Open Radio, Dreamer—who works behind the scenes in TNA creative and talent relations—addressed the rumors head-on and confirmed Ash’s injury is legitimate.
“She is no longer physically able to compete, per her statement and that’s it,” Dreamer said. “There’s HIPAA laws involved and stuff like that. People shouldn’t speculate.”
He mentioned that this is not some kind of storyline twist, comparing it to other injuries fans have second-guessed.
“If it’s a work, you’re not going to hand in your title. Like, the Seth Rollins thing, people were speculating… But with Ash, unfortunately, like I said, things changed because she had stepped down and it sucks.”
Dreamer noted that Ash By Elegance was hitting her stride in TNA and was lined up for a major title defense at Bound for Glory against Indi Hartwell. Now, plans have shifted.
“It sucks for her, because it was like she just hit the high of highs with her career and it was off to the races. I mean, it was going to be the winner of her match faced Indi [Hartwell] to defend the title at [Bound for Glory] and everything has to change. ‘Card subject to change’ is a real thing.”
Despite the sudden change, Dreamer praised new Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan for stepping up in a big way. Ash By Elegance’s sudden exit is a gut punch for TNA and its fans, but it also sets the stage for a whole new chapter in the Knockouts division. Her journey from WWE to becoming one of TNA’s brightest stars was nothing short of a comeback story, and stepping away at her peak makes this moment even more emotional.
Do you think Ash By Elegance’s absence will shake up TNA’s Knockouts division long-term? Who should carry the torch next? Sound off in the comments.
