Ash By Elegance is opening up about the serious health battle that forced her into retirement and continues to impact her life today.
While speaking on the Generation of Wrestling Podcast, the TNA star revealed that her time away from the ring wasn’t caused by a typical wrestling injury. Instead, she said doctors have been trying to diagnose a complicated medical condition that has left her searching for answers while continuing to fight her way back into the ring.
She explained that the situation has been confusing and unpredictable, especially because she doesn’t always appear sick outwardly, even while dealing with major health concerns behind the scenes.
“Yeah. I mean I'm still going through it which is crazy. You don't have to have like an injury or what I'm going through is a health issue and you know a lot of people especially in my situation I don't look sick I feel you know good today but tomorrow might not. So it's definitely a health issue, everything that I'm going through. I had mentioned once I have a solid diagnosis, like it's my issue is it's weird. They call it like a medical mystery. I've done so many things. I spent numerous days in the ICU that nobody really knows about because I haven't put that out there yet until I honestly can find out really what this is, which we're towards like we're on a good track now. It was scary.”
Ash went on to explain that doctors initially told her she might not be able to wrestle again, a moment she described as devastating given how much wrestling means to her identity.
“In the beginning, what had happened that kind of forced me into retirement has like trickled now into this, and it's kind of all adding up to being this one diagnosis. I'm just not going to say it yet until it's really out there. But I fought and clawed my way back because if I have a vision like in my entire life, ever since I was a little girl, if I have a vision of like, okay, at on this date I can do this… I'm going to get to it. So when they were like, ‘You can't wrestle anymore,’ I'm like, ‘What do I have to live for?’ you know, like this is like my life.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding her condition, Ash said she refused to accept defeat and worked closely with doctors to slowly regain clearance to return to wrestling. Even now, she admitted that symptoms still flare up at times, making the journey unpredictable.
“And the doctors were like slowly like, okay, well… it's like a check mark thing… okay, so this is good. This is good. This is good. All right, we think you're medically you're good… So, I was good. I kind of came back. I'm good to wrestle. It's just like these sometimes it's difficult because my body kind of goes a little wonky… I have a couple more tests… Knock on wood, everything is going to be fine.”
Ash also shared that once doctors confirm a final diagnosis, she plans to speak openly about her condition to help others who may be dealing with similar health struggles but don’t have a public platform to share their experiences.
“Once I get everything like kind of with a nice little pretty bow tie tied up and this is what it is, then I'm going to be very comfortable sharing what's going on and hopefully I can help somebody that can help another person along the way.”
Ash By Elegance’s comments reveal just how serious her health situation has been behind the scenes, while also showing the determination that pushed her back into the ring despite uncertainty about her future.
