Ash By Elegance, formerly known as Dana Brooke, is looking back on her decade-long run in WWE, and she isn’t holding back on how she feels about it.
In an interview via Monopoly Events, Ash reflected on her rollercoaster experience in WWE, comparing it to a toxic relationship, but at the same time, acknowledging that the company helped shape her career.
“I will be completely open and honest. It was like a toxic relationship. It was definitely a roller coaster ride. But I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for WWE.”
Ash was with WWE from 2013 until her release in September 2023, holding the 24/7 Championship 15 times and competing in some historic moments in the women’s division. Despite the ups and downs, she expressed gratitude for what WWE gave her.
“WWE gave me an amazing platform to interact with all my fans, to get to know one another, and I’m real. My fans will know that I will try and reach out and just be super motivating and super inspiring. If it wasn’t for WWE, I wouldn’t have the fans and be able to interact like I do.”
She also highlighted her contributions during WWE’s Women’s Evolution, recalling her matches with Asuka, her involvement in the first Women’s Royal Rumble, and how she started her career alongside Charlotte Flair and Ric Flair.
“I was there during the women’s evolution. We, I say as Charlotte Flair, myself, Sasha Banks, Bayley, everyone in that era of NXT was just truly amazing, Asuka. I was Asuka’s first opponent when she came to the States. I was on the first-ever NXT Takeover. I was on the first Evolution, the first Women’s Royal Rumble.”
Since her WWE exit in 2023, Ash has reinvented herself in TNA Wrestling, debuting in January 2024 and making an immediate impact. Now, she’s focused on the next phase of her career, proving that there’s life after WWE.
