Adam Copeland’s recent disappearance from AEW TV had fans spinning theories about a WWE comeback—especially one that would involve a final showdown with John Cena. But as we reported last week, that speculation was off the mark.

Copeland isn’t jumping back into the wrestling ring—he’s stepping deeper into Hollywood.

Variety confirmed today that the WWE Hall of Famer has been cast in The Beekeeper 2, the sequel to Jason Statham’s surprise action hit that grossed $162 million worldwide. Copeland joins an ensemble that also includes Pom Klementieff, Jeremy Irons, and Yara Shahidi.

“Pom Klementieff (‘Mission: Impossible,’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’) and pro wrestler-turned-actor Adam Copeland (‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’) are the latest to join the cast of the Jason Statham-starring action thriller.”

Copeland’s role is still under wraps, but the sequel is now in production under director Timo Tjahjanto, with Kurt Wimmer returning as screenwriter. Jason Statham is also producing through his Punch Palace Productions banner, with Amazon MGM Studios handling worldwide distribution.

This isn’t Copeland’s only screen venture right now. We reported last week that he’s currently filming Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Disney+, where he reprises his role as Ares, the God of War. That role already earned him a nomination at the Children’s and Family Emmys—no small feat for a wrestler-turned-actor.

So while fans may miss him inside the squared circle, Copeland is clearly focused on conquering Hollywood for now.

Adam Copeland’s star continues to rise outside the ring, and it looks like he’s just getting started. Whether he returns to AEW or WWE down the line remains to be seen—but for now, he’s all-in on the big screen.
