Many athletes and professional fighters have shown interest in transitioning from their respective sports to the world of professional wrestling. WWE is very open to this, and they have seen a few big names make that jump. Now, Amanda Nunes might be interested in making that jump.
Several MMA fighters have already made the leap, including Paige VanZant and Cain Velasquez. Prominent names such as Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, and Colby Covington have also expressed their desire to venture into wrestling.
Amanda Nunes, the current UFC Women’s Featherweight and Bantamweight Champion, is set to face Irene Aldana in the main event of UFC 289 this Saturday. This fight was set up after Aldana replaced Julianna Peña, who withdrew due to broken ribs.
During an interview with the New York Post, Nunes was asked about her thoughts on potentially joining WWE after her MMA career concludes.
“It depends on the contract, you know? (If she’d go to WWE) If the contract is amazing, why not? What I wanted to do in MMA, I did already — even more than I thought in my head when I went through my whole career. I became a double champion. I wanted only one — I had two … I’m so happy, and whatever comes after I’m done with UFC, we’ll see. For sure, you guys will see me around anyways.”
We’ll have to see if this situation results in Amanda Nunes joining WWE eventually. She seems to be interested, if the money is right.
Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler both saw a lot of success in WWE. They are currently Women’s Tag Team Champions. Now, we will have to see if Amanda Nunes makes the jump to join them.
