Alberto Del Rio is out of jail, but his legal situation is still hanging over him.
In a major update on April 11, 2026, Del Rio — real name José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan — was released from custody in San Luis Potosí after reaching a financial settlement with his wife in his domestic violence case.
According to reports from El Mañana SLP, Del Rio appeared in court for a hearing that lasted more than three hours at the Centro Integral de Justicia Penal de La Pila. During that hearing, the judge determined there was enough evidence to formally move the case forward to trial on a charge of repeated family violence.
Despite that ruling, Del Rio’s legal team requested an alternative resolution during the hearing. After a recess, the judge approved that request, allowing the case to move forward under conditional suspension instead of keeping him in jail.
As part of the agreement, Del Rio paid 1,130,000 pesos — which equals roughly $56,000 USD — as financial compensation tied to the case. The victim also granted legal pardon, which allowed authorities to approve his immediate release from custody.
However, his release comes with strict conditions. Del Rio must comply with multiple court-ordered requirements over the next six months while the case remains under judicial supervision. A compliance verification hearing has already been scheduled for October 29, 2026, where the court will review whether he followed those conditions.
This marks a major shift from earlier developments in the case. Del Rio was originally arrested on April 6 after his wife called emergency services reporting physical and verbal abuse. Authorities detained him at a home in the Lomas del Tecnológico neighborhood, and he had remained in custody at La Pila prison after a judge initially ordered preventive detention.
Even though Del Rio is now out of jail, the situation is far from finished. The case will remain active under court supervision, and the fallout has already impacted his wrestling career, with multiple promotions pulling him from scheduled appearances following his arrest.
With Del Rio now released but still facing court oversight, attention will shift to whether he follows the conditions set by the judge — and whether wrestling companies will be willing to work with him again while the case remains active.
