Alberto Del Rio’s situation is escalating fast—and now the fallout is spreading across multiple promotions beyond his initial suspension.
Several companies have begun removing Alberto Del Rio from scheduled appearances following his arrest and ongoing investigation, truly showing that the impact is no longer limited to just one promotion.
One of the biggest changes came from Promociones Acosta, where Del Rio had been booked to wrestle in Córdoba this Saturday. After initially delaying a decision, the promotion confirmed he’s officially off the card and will be replaced by Blue Demon Jr..
In their statement, the company made it clear that all logistical arrangements had already been completed—but the current situation forced their hand. They also stated that the event will move forward without disruption, positioning the replacement as a major draw.
“We reiterate our commitment, seriousness and professionalism with you, who are the engine to continue presenting high quality events in professional wrestling in #Córdoba. In relation to the situation of the fighter Alberto Del Rio "El Patrón", we inform that as a company we meet in time and form all the requirements established for his submission, including fees, logistics and scheduling his flight from San Antonio, Texas to Mexico City, contract made from beginnings of the month of February. However, the personal circumstances currently facing the talent are completely out of our reach, so we find ourselves in the need to make adjustments to the poster.
We reaffirm that the event is still standing and, far from being affected, we have taken decisions to guarantee a spectacle at the height of the fans. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that his place will be occupied by one of the maximum legends of Mexican wrestling and international recognition: Blue Demon Jr., who will also team up with his heir, in a confrontation that has generated great expectation for the intense rivalry he maintains with DMT Blue.”
That wasn’t the only change. Arena del Valle has also scrubbed all references to Del Rio from its upcoming show this Sunday, with Burguer Boy (Niño Hamburguesa) now set to headline the card instead. Meanwhile, a Comic Con event in Hermosillo confirmed Del Rio has been removed from its July lineup entirely, issuing a public statement addressing the situation.
“Due to circumstances beyond the organization’s control, wrestler Alberto Del Río will no longer be part of our event.”
The series of removals comes right after The Crash Lucha Libre suspended Del Rio from all future bookings, marking the first official action against him. Now, with multiple promotions following suit, the situation is clearly expanding into a wider industry response.
What started as a legal issue is quickly turning into a full professional fallout, with bookings being pulled in real time and replacements already locked in. If this trend continues, Del Rio’s presence across the wrestling scene could shrink even further in the coming weeks.
With multiple promotions already distancing themselves, do you think more companies will follow and completely shut the door on Alberto Del Rio—or could this situation still turn around? Drop your thoughts and feedback below.
