Alberto Del Rio’s situation has taken a major turn—and the real story right now isn’t just the arrest over alleged domestic violence. It’s the series of new allegations coming out of Mexico that paint a much more serious picture.
According to Mexican reporter Gabriel Cuevas of Radio Fórmula MX on April 8 2026, the case may involve far more than what was initially reported, with claims pointing toward intent that could significantly raise the stakes if proven. He went straight to the most alarming claim, making it clear that what he’s hearing goes beyond a standard domestic violence situation, claiming that Alberto intended to kill his wife, Marie Carmen.
“And now this story is coming to light—that El Patrón, apparently—and I repeat this—yesterday intended to kill Marie Carmen.”
From there, he broke down how everything unfolded publicly, explaining that the arrest didn’t just quietly happen—it spread fast and caught people off guard as images started making the rounds.
“Alberto, better known as ‘El Patrón,’ was arrested yesterday in San Luis Potosí. This image quickly began circulating online yesterday afternoon. I was shocked when they sent me this photograph and told me, ‘Gabriel, this is happening.’”
But according to Cuevas, this wasn’t some sudden explosion out of nowhere. The way he tells it, there were warning signs leading up to this moment—and people around the situation may have already been seeing it unfold. He then explained how the story kept developing in real time while he was live on air, with new details coming in almost immediately from those connected to the situation.
“Without a doubt, I dare say this was a tragedy that had been building. You could see it, feel it, notice the kind of person this man is. I was on the program Dulce y Picosito… when suddenly my colleague sent us this news. We shared it on the show, and then Flor realized that his wife had contacted her back on March 5—late at night—apparently asking for help.”
As more information started coming in, Cuevas described the alleged severity of the situation—claiming the violence itself had already reached a serious level. And it didn’t stop there. According to him, once the story broke, more people started coming forward—including neighbors—who allegedly described what had been happening inside the home.
“The man you are seeing on screen, this wrestler, assaulted his wife to the point of breaking part of her nose. Yesterday afternoon, a neighbor contacted me via WhatsApp and began telling me this story, which is extremely serious. They are telling me this had been going on for months… he had already committed several acts of aggression against her.”
Cuevas pointed to jealousy as a major factor behind what was allegedly happening, describing how things may have escalated over time.
“The early problems in the relationship that began to alarm her… were jealousy. El Patrón started showing extreme jealousy. She would say, ‘How is it possible that the man who promised to take care of me is now jealous of me—even of my friends?’”
He then laid out one of the alleged incidents that reportedly set off alarms among those close to Marie Carmen—something he described as a turning point. From there, the situation allegedly spiraled, with claims that the behavior became more aggressive and more frequent.
“Over two months ago, he threw her bicycle at her… imagine your partner throwing your training bicycle at you because he said, ‘What are you going to do—look for other men? Am I not enough for you?’ Neighbors began to notice that she would frequently scream in the house, that they heard blows, insults, and very violent behavior. He began kicking her bicycle, damaging it so she wouldn’t go out.”
Cuevas also claimed that things got serious enough for authorities to be called multiple times—but according to what he was told, that didn’t lead to any real change: “Neighbors repeatedly called 911 asking for help… officers would come, but nothing was done.” He then shared a message he says came from someone close to the situation—one that paints this as an ongoing pattern rather than a one-time incident.
“He is a monster. This is not the first time he has done this. He claimed the municipal president would support him publicly, but it was never true. When he spoke about his wife, others already knew he hit her, but she denied it out of fear. Since last year, Marie Carmen had been abused by him due to jealousy.”
Cuevas also touched on claims that Del Rio allegedly became convinced Marie Carmen was involved with cyclist Dan Noyola—something that may have fueled the situation even further. He ended by noting again that Del Rio allegedly tried to take the life of his wife over a suspected affair.
“And here’s the most shocking part—he allegedly convinced himself that Marie Carmen was involved with an Exatlón competitor, Dan Noyola, who is also a cyclist.
The jealousy escalated to the point where he believed her cycling was an excuse to meet another man. This is the same man who humiliated others—mocking people for their English, their worn boots, for not traveling first class. And yesterday, that same man—consumed by jealousy—allegedly tried to take the life of his wife, Marie Carmen, whom he married in 2024, believing in his mind that her cycling meant she was being unfaithful with another athlete.”
All of this is happening while prosecutors in San Luis Potosí are already evaluating potential charges. According to Milenio, a baseline domestic violence charge could carry one to seven years in prison.
But the bigger issue is the more serious charge being considered—Lesiones Cometidas contra la Mujer en Razon de su Genero—which could lead to eight to 20 years behind bars, depending on how the case develops, while Del Rio has been ordered to remain in jail. What started as an arrest has now turned into something much bigger, with new allegations shifting the focus completely toward what could happen next in court.
