AJ Styles may have wrestled his final match at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble, but it was a powerful off-screen moment that truly marked the end of an era—a heartfelt letter read aloud by Stephanie McMahon, written by his wife, Wendy.
Appearing on Stephanie’s podcast just days after his loss to Gunther in a career-threatening match, Styles listened as Stephanie read the private message from Wendy to her husband, known to the world as The Phenomenal One, but to her as Allen.
“To my loving husband whom I call Allen and the world calls ‘The Phenomenal AJ Styles,’” the letter began.
“Growing up, who knew I would marry a wrestler? Sure, I would watch wrestling with my grandmother but I never had a desire to marry one.”
Wendy shared memories of their early marriage, when AJ turned down an early WWE offer to stay by her side while she was still in college:
“Even when I was pushing you to go, you politely declined the offer. You always said we would do this together and not apart. Together we have.”
She praised his achievements—not just in the ring, but in life:
“You have traveled the world wrestling and conquered what many only dream of accomplishing. You have put God and your family first in this business. I truly believe God opened every door and allowed not just you but our family to walk through them.”
With their four children and years of sacrifice behind them, Wendy closed with the message that shook AJ and wrestling fans alike:
“You wanted to beat the house. Well, you did. A phenomenal career. Four amazing and individually gifted kids. And a loving, always supportive wife who has stood beside you the entire time. You won, come home. The phenomenal times are just beginning. I love you, babe.”
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. For all the titles AJ Styles has claimed, this was the moment that felt like the final victory.
