TNA is going all-in for its AMC premiere this Thursday night from 9 to 11 PM, and the lineup is stacked—but all eyes are on AJ Styles and what his appearance might really mean.

Announced several days ago, Styles is confirmed for the show, but tickets haven’t exactly flown out the door. Despite that, the presence of a megastar like AJ Styles has sparked speculation about a return to in-ring action, possibly as soon as this weekend’s pay-per-view.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there’s reason to believe a Styles match could be in the works. While current plans have Frankie Kazarian going one-on-one with Mike Santana for the TNA World Title during the AMC debut, Meltzer noted:

“I know that they wanted Frankie Kazarian and AJ Styles, and obviously that didn’t… this is what they got. I don’t know, maybe it’s possible they could always shoot an angle and do it later.”

There’s more fuel for that fire—TNA has a pay-per-view scheduled just two days after the AMC debut, and Bryan Alvarez floated the idea of doing Kazarian vs. AJ Styles at that event instead. Meltzer didn’t shoot it down either:

“Yeah, they could do that, actually. Yeah, yeah.”

So while Santana vs. Kazarian might be happening on AMC, there’s still a chance Kazarian vs. AJ Styles is the long-term play. TNA may have pivoted their plans, but with AJ in the building, it wouldn’t take much to spark an angle and make it official.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why Perez Hilton is also on the card… you’re not alone. Meltzer couldn’t hide his confusion:

“Hilton? I mean, what the—what the hell. It’s like, the celebrities are supposed to, like, sell tickets. I mean, that is a weird— that’s a weird one.”

With TNA stacking Thursday’s debut and another big event two nights later, don’t be surprised if AJ Styles steps back into the ring for a TNA match this weekend—especially if it means settling some unfinished business with Kazarian.
