AJ Styles’ Current TNA Status After Slammiversary Appearance

AJ Styles shocked the wrestling world with his return to TNA at Slammiversary 2025, but fans may not have seen the last of The Phenomenal One in a TNA ring.

While Styles’ appearance was limited to a show-closing endorsement of new X Division Champion Leon Slater, new details are emerging about what could be next. In an interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, TNA President Carlos Silva addressed the elephant in the room: will AJ Styles ever wrestle in TNA again?

“Yeah, look, I mean, never say never. I have to tell you that the WWE/NXT partnership has been so great. They really supported us. They supported AJ. He wanted to come to Slammiversary. We obviously wanted him to come to Slammiversary, and they made it work for us. And I think the fans got to win as a result of that.”

Silva made it clear that WWE gave the green light for the Slammiversary appearance, and both sides collaborated closely.

“So look, I think like every partnership, you work through these things. You figure out what works timing-wise. You figure out what works at WWE and NXT. And we all try to figure out how to create great moments for the fans. So, I’d say never say never. And like everything, we just—we continue to go to work every day with them to try and create great storylines.”

This comes after Sports Illustrated reported that AJ was originally set to have a segment with Frankie Kazarian—his longtime rival—but plans were changed just hours before Slammiversary. Sources close to TNA suggest that WWE may have pushed for a more non-committal segment, avoiding any implications of a future match WWE wasn’t planning to deliver.

With AJ Styles still on track to face Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE SummerSlam, his current commitments remain firmly with WWE. But Silva’s open-ended response leaves the door cracked for one more TNA bout down the line.

Could AJ Styles wrestle one last classic under the TNA banner? The fans want it, and based on Silva’s comments—WWE might not be entirely opposed either.
