AJ Styles is getting ready to make a major change after he steps away from the ring in 2026—and it has nothing to do with wrestling. The Phenomenal One says his long hair could be the first thing to go once he retires.

In a recent interview with Inside the Ropes, AJ admitted that his wife has been pushing for a haircut. While he’s not ready to chop it all off yet, he hinted that retirement could be the end of his signature style.

“According to my wife, it’s going to be cut soon. Like, it’s getting way too long and she doesn’t like it. So she’s repeatedly telling me I’m going to have to cut a couple inches off — which is fine. Not cut it all off now. But when retirement finally comes, that will be the first thing that goes… probably the hair.”

Styles even teased the idea of shaving it all off. He said he’s been seriously considering going completely bald after his career wraps up, but he’s not a fan of the awkward regrowth phase.

“I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking about a full shave — just go completely gone. All of it. But the thing is, if I want to grow out my hair after doing that, it’s going to look really silly. There’s always that point.”

Reflecting on his ever-changing look, AJ poked fun at his past hairstyles and how fans have labeled them over the years.

“I mean, you think about the evolution of AJ Styles when he started growing his hair out… it was emo AJ Styles… it was soccer mom AJ Styles… and now it’s too-long AJ Styles.”

From his early days in the ring to becoming one of WWE’s most respected veterans, AJ Styles has never been afraid to evolve. And when 2026 rolls around, that evolution might include a dramatic haircut.
