AJ Styles had fans thinking a major change to his look was coming after retirement — but now, that plan might be off the table since he doesn’t plan on shaving his head anymore.
After previously teasing that he could shave his head once his in-ring career ended, Styles is now second-guessing that idea following his retirement, admitting he’s not so sure what he wants to do with his hair anymore. Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast on March 22, 2026, Styles was asked directly whether a haircut is still in his plans — and his answer made it clear things have changed.
He started by explaining that his perspective on his hair has shifted now that he’s no longer actively wrestling, making it less of a concern than it used to be: “It’s weird, because it’s just my hair now.”
Styles then admitted that, despite previously talking about cutting or shaving it, he’s been going back and forth and hasn’t landed on a decision. And instead of rushing into a dramatic change, he revealed there’s actually something he’s enjoying about leaving things as they are.
“I don’t know — I’ve gone back and forth about it. I don’t know what kind of haircut to get. And honestly, it’s kind of nice not having to go in every two weeks and get a haircut.”
This comes after Styles had previously hinted that retirement in 2026 would likely mark the end of his long-haired look, even teasing the possibility of shaving it all off completely. But now, with his in-ring career behind him, it seems like the urgency to make that change just isn’t there anymore.
Bottom line — AJ Styles isn’t in a rush to reinvent his look. After years of constantly maintaining his appearance in the limelight, he’s now taking a step back and letting things be — at least for now.
