AEW fans hoping for a big network deal might need to pump the brakes on “Shockwave” landing on FOX. as a new update throws cold water on the idea, indicating it hasn’t moved past the discussion stage.

During his January 28 Q&A Live podcast, Sapp was blunt about where things stand: “I didn’t hear them progressing anymore. Shockwave was just a theory.” That’s a far cry from the speculation that had fans believing AEW was deep into negotiations for a new show.

Previously, AEW filed a trademark for “Shockwave,” fueling speculation that a major broadcast deal could be in the works. Swerve Strickland even teased AEW’s potential collaboration with FOX, adding more fuel to the fire. But according to Sapp, it’s not happening—at least not yet.

When pressed about whether the show would be a one-hour or two-hour broadcast, Sapp had already made it clear previously that there wasn’t anything solid to report: “I have not heard of the length. I think that would be something as part of a discussion.”

That alone signaled that AEW wasn’t locking in details. Now, with his latest comments, it sounds like “Shockwave” was never anything more than an idea tossed around.

AEW’s potential expansion to FOX had some fans excited about what could be next for the company. But right now, there’s nothing to get hyped about—just rumors and speculation that seem to be going nowhere.

Do you think AEW should keep pushing for a FOX deal? Would you rather see them focus on strengthening their current programming? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
